5 POINT RANCH
The 5 Point Ranch is a 8,362 sqft home an hour outside of St. George, UT. The home functions as a gathering place for a growing family of five. The owners are in their 50s and empty nester’s of 3 adult children. For most of the year, the main occupants will be the two owners and their cat. The two story home creates separation between spaces in daily use and spaces with non-regular use.
The vision for the home is to serve as a vacation escape and family reunion spot for the families as they grow. On the second floor, each adult child has their own space for them and their spouse. There’s also room for their expanding families in the bunk room for the future grandchildren. All spaces upstairs designated for children are located over storage or garages. This was done to mitigate sound to the main floor.
The master suite has been designed for aging in place. It’s located on the main floor of the home so the occupants don’t need to use the stairs to get to their room. The bathroom can be easily converted for a wheelchair. The restroom has ample space for a wheelchair turn radius and blocking for grab bars. It’s important that the owners can age comfortably in the home with minimal alterations needed.
