HAVEN WOMEN'S SHELTER
The design intent of this space was to focus on making the space resemble safety and beauty. The design of this space not only incorporated a place only for women, but for their children and pets as well. It was important that this space included all the necessities for women to receive their care so they would not have to leave the building during their stay. To enforce this idea, a therapy room with an onsite therapist, a medical room with an onsite RN, a daycare area for children staying with the residents, and a cafeteria were included in this project.
SWEET DREAMS CAFE
Sweet Dreams Cafe is inspired by the Art Deco style. Bold colors such as pink and blue are used in this design with white to give these colors contrast. Geometric detailing is used in this space by incorporating archways and spherical shapes. White terrazzo flooring is used to contrast the pink and blue coloration and is laid in a herringbone fashion to stay consistent with geometric detailing.
AUSTIN ESTATES
Austin Estates is an assisted senior living center located in Austin, Texas. This project was entered for the IIDA 2023 Student Competition. Contestants were given a floor plan with only the exterior walls and were given the challenge to create a space plan that included a reception area, administration room, physician/work room, nurses room, employee break room, library/computer room, dining room, commercial kitchen, public restrooms, an outdoor area, and 15 resident suites with their own private bathrooms. For the color scheme, the intention was for the design to have a Zen feel, Neutrals with greens, blues, and oranges were chosen to make the space feel light and airy. The space is completely ADA code compliant with ADA bathrooms, showers, and handrails all along the space.
